How to stay sleek in fall and winter: three layers are enough
Layer base, knitwear, and outerwear separately for greater mobility than wearing two bulky coats.

Staying warm in winter isn't about wearing thick clothes—it's about trapping heat between layers. We recommend a three-layer system: an inner layer that wicks moisture away to keep you dry, a middle layer that retains warmth, and an outer layer that blocks the wind.
For the base layer, choose cotton-blend or fine-knit fabric with a neck that isn't too tight. For the mid-layer, opt for a medium-weight wool-blend knit; anything thicker will restrict movement at the elbows and shoulders.
Choose based on your needs: a short, padded jacket offers flexibility for commuting and school runs; opt for a mid-length down coat that extends past the knees for cycling, waiting for the bus, or spending extended time outdoors to stay warm.
One often-overlooked detail is the cuff and hem fit. A snug closure keeps wind out, improving comfort by several degrees. Before buying, lift your arms to check if the hem rides up.
